A significant change involves the barrier code for pool and spa construction: a powered safety cover will no longer be accepted as a replacement for a fence barrier. Important Notes: Pools permitted after 6/30/26 will require fencing The power cover will no longer be accepted as a barrier replacement for a fence This change is not retroactive: pools permitted or built under the current code are not required to add a fence See code section below Additional changes will be shared once the adoption is finalized. Ms. Vasquez noted that these codes are tied to the permit application date; any application received before the implementation date may follow current requirements.
